Issues: Support for Single-Payer Universal Healthcare

Healthcare is a human right. John supports a universal, publicly funded, single-payer health system. This would benefit all Americans regardless of employment, socio-economic status, or pre-existing conditions.

> In the US today over 45 million Americans have no healthcare insurance.

> The United States government continues to lag behind the governments of other leading industrialized countries when it comes to delivering healthcare to the people, despite spending much more on healthcare than other industrialized countries and having the best trained physicians and healthcare infrastructure.

> The emphasis currently is on corporate profits which drives up the costs of healthcare while making it less efficient. Our healthcare policy must focus on allowing our healthcare professionals to deliver quality preventive healthcare.
